METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SINTERING MICROWAVE ABSORBENT TO HIGH DENSITY

PURPOSE:To sinter a microwave absorbent within a short time with a simple sealing technique by enclosing the absorbent with a heat insulating material consisting of a microwave-transmissive material, sealing the absorbent with a microwave-transmissive elastic body, heating the absorbent with a microwave and pressing the heated absorbent with high pressure. CONSTITUTION:A microwave absorbent 2 to be treated is enclosed with a microwave-transmissive heat insulating material 3. The heat insulating material 3 is wholly surrounded by a microwave-transmissive elastic sealing material 4. The body 1 to be treated formed in the first stage is irradiated with a microwave 5 to heat only the absorbent 2, and the outmost sealing material 4 is kept below the thermal decomposition temp. The body 1 obtained in the second stage is placed in a high pressure vessel while still hot and isotropically pressed.
