The invention relates to a device for cutting the stems of seaweed. This includes: - a sled intended to move over the support on which the seaweed is growing, which sled has the shape of a frame (1) provided with support runners (12, 13); - a substantially horizontal cutting bar (4) articulated in a substantially horizontal plane, which bar is placed under the frame (1) and is formed of two superimposed shear blades, which can move with respect to one another; - a basket (2) for gathering the cut seaweed, which is placed above the frame and has an opening pointing towards the cutting bar (4); - first and second driving means capable respectively of causing the cutting bar (4) to oscillate with respect to the sled and of moving the movable shear blade with respect to the fixed shear blade. <IMAGE>
