PURPOSE:To improve resistance to spalling and erosion by slag by specifying the amts. of alumina, magnesia and spinel and the grain size of the magnesia in an alumina-magnesia-spinel casting material. CONSTITUTION:This refractory for casting is composed of 100 pts.wt. refractory aggregate and a prescribed binder, the aggregate is based on 14-85wt.% alumina, 5-50wt.% spinel and 12-36wt.% magnesia and the grain size of the magnesia is <=0.2mm. This refractory has superior resistance to spalling and erosion by slag. |
