PURPOSE:To simultaneously and mechanically lap the levitating rail surfaces of a number of magnetic head sliders by providing a holder for polishing with a positioning means to position a plurality of magnetic head sliders to be polished and a soft member having a small holes through which the magnetic head sliders are vacuum-adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head slider 14 is contained in a recessed part 17 of a soft member 13, through vacuum suction through a vacuum pipe 20, the magnetic head slider 14 is vacuum-adsorbed and held, and with this state, the magnetic head slider is capable of being carried. With this state, the head slider is placed on a rotary disc 10, and through rotation of the rotary disc, a polishing holder 11 is also rotated to apply lapping on the levitating rail surface of the head slider 14. In this case, since the magnetic head slider 14 is pressed by the soft member 13, it is pressed by means of a mean pressurizing force. |
