<p>PURPOSE: To divide a residual board into a preset number of thin boards having a prescribed thickness, without a loss in the shape thereof, by a method wherein a residual thickness of residual squared lumber is measured, a distance between a knife and a cooperating thrust member is altered on the basis of measurement of the residual squared lumber and a plurality of boards having a modified object thickness is made on the basis of an experimental value. CONSTITUTION: A pressure unit comprises a plurality of controllable pressure rollers 17 and squared lumber 1 is passed repeatedly and cut into a number of thin boards completely. Each residual squared lumber 1 leaving a cutting place 9 is measured mechanically or optically by sensing and measuring units 46, and a detecting and estimating unit 48 to which the result of the measurement is transmitted computes a feed value for a pressure rail 13 and continues to pass this value to a feeding member 45 which generates feed. Therefore the measurement of the residual squared lumber is conducted after each passage through the intermediary of this device. By feeding back the results of the measurement of the residual squared lumber 1 and measurement in regard to adjustment of a blade for division of a following board, division of the squared lumber 1 into boards convenient for use of integral numbers is attained simply without necessitating complicated detection and control for obtaining boards of a desired thickness.</p> |
