PURPOSE:To provide an image forming ability to the liquid crystal panel itself and to obviate the degradation in image quality and the complication of driving waveforms by using the liquid crystal color display device constituted with a light source, a neutral color polarizer, ferroelectric liquid crystal panel, neutral color polarizer, ferroelectric liquid crystal panel, and two kinds of color polarizer in this order. CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted of the light source, the neutral color polarizer 6, the ferroelectric liquid crystal panel 10, the neutral color polarizer 7, the ferroelectric liquid crystal panel 11, and the color polarizers 8, 9 in this order. The color polarizers 8, 9 have different spectral characteristics and the optical axes thereof intersect orthogonally with each other. Further, the color polarizers 8, 9 are so disposed that the respective optical axes thereof parallel or intersect orthogonally with the respective optical axes of the neutral color polarizers 6, 7. The display electrodes of the liquid crystal panels 10, 11 are formed in sprite shapes in the same direction and the relative positions between two sheets of the panels 10 and 11 are disposed that the stripe-shaped display electrodes of the respective panels intersect orthogonally with each other. Color graphic display is executed with the intersected point displayed by the respective panels as one picture element. |
