The transport container storage system has a number of rail-mounted storage frames (1) forming a high-rise shelving arrangement. The frames have container deposition positions (4), offset from each other in a staircase pattern, each for one or more containers (2). The frames are movable individually or in groups so that they can be nested together or spaced. They pref. run on bogie wheels (9) on two parallel pairs of rails (11), the wheels at the front on the inner rails and those at the rear on the outer ones to allow nesting together. The frames are narrower at the front.
