Smelting oven for secondary metals esp. from PCB materials - uses primary and secondary burners and excess of air and/or oxygen to burn off impurities

Smelting oven (1) for secondary metals (6) with a primary burner (2) in a first position (3) and waste gases leaving the oven through a discharge point (4) at a second position, has the novelty that a secondary burner (5) located at the second position burns the escaping waste gases and simultaneously heats the metal (6). The oven rotates to effect uniform heating of the metal. The secondary burner is provided with an excess of air and/or oxygen. An afterburner located at the discharge point (4), and the oven itself are maintained at a temp. greater than or equal to 1100 deg.C for smelting and burning secondary metals on PCBs. USE/ADVANTAGE - Suitable for dealing with all forms of metal waste which give off contaminating gases when heated (e.g. aluminium, copper, lead and iron scrap, and esp. PCB-materials), the process utilises the thermal content of pyrolytic gases during the secondary combustion to destroy PCB cpds.
