<p>A manifold type multi-channel liquid handling device (1) employs siphon shaped pipettes (4) and a backsip function to help prevent leakage of liquid from the manifold. The device is designed for simultaneously pipetting liquids to and/or from a plurality of tubes, microtiter plate wells (10), or the like. Alternatively, the device may be employed for simultaneously washing such liquid containers (10). To help prevent leakage from the manifold, the device employs a plurality of siphon shaped pipettes and a backsip function. After each dispensing or aspirating event, residual liquid within the long leg (7) of the siphon shaped pipettes (4) is withdrawn by means of a backsip function back into the manifold.</p> |
