The vice to hold irregularly shaped articles for a milling or rotary machine. Separate radial holding jaws (7) are activated by hydraulic cylinders (2) which are connected to a common hydraulic reservoir. A device (14) puts pressure on the reservoir which activates the cylinders and the jaws (7), moving them in towards the work object (15). Cylinders can be individually disconnected from the reservoir, and pressure can be raised in consequence of the penetration of a needle (22) into the reservoir. USE/ADVANTAGE - The jaws can move independently to suit the contour of the object, or the object may be centralized.
