The lamp has an elongate quartz glass envelope (1) with a holder at its centre for the lamp filament terminals (7,8). The interior of the envelope is divided across its cross-section into at least two separate compartments (3,4) at least one of which contains a lamp filament (9), the terminals fitting through a pair of bores (5,6) in the wall of one compartment (4) adjacent the holder. Pref., the envelope comprises a twin sleeve sealed at each end by quartz glass plates (11). ADVANTAGE - Provides simplified connections and suspension.
