In aq. 2-component lacquer contg. the usual additives and opt. pigments, for coating finish films and continuous edges, the lacquer components (I) contains: (A) 40-85, pref. 60-85 (wt.)% aq. dispersion of self-crosslinking polyacrylate resin, in which the self-crosslinking gps. are derived from acid amides of the formula -CO-n(R1)-CH(R2)-OR3; (where R1 = H or -CH(R1)-OR3; R2 = H or -COOR4; R3 = H or 1-10C hydrocarbyl, pref. Me, ET, Pr, i-Pr, Bu or i-Bu; R4 = 1-5C alkyl); (B) 5-50 pref. 7-20% melamine resin, dispersed or dissolved in an aq, medium; (C) 0-40, pref. 5-20 urea resin, dispersed or dissolved in an aq. medium; (D) 5-30, pref. 6-15% polyol component; and (E) 0.01-5, pref. 0.1-1.5% amine component; the total of (A-E) being 100%; and the hardener component (II) is a water-dilutable acid. Components (I) and (II) are mixed before application, using 0.05-3, pref. 0.5-2% w.r.t. (I). (D) is pref. triol; and (E) is 2-amino-2-ethylpropan-1,3-diol and/or 2-amino-2-methylpropanol. The acid is p-toluenesulphonic acid (IIA). The wet lacquer coating is cured 10-60, pref. 10-20 s at 10-210 deg. C.
