The invention relates to an apparatus for producing a high-pressure fluid jet used in fluid-jet cutting. As main components, the apparatus comprises a body (3), a shaft (10) journalled (5a, 5b, 6a, 6b) therein, a power unit (1, 2) for driving shaft (10), a nozzle assembly (11) in connection with body (3), at least two pump units (7) mounted successively on shaft (2) and operating on kinetic principle, and a set of conduits (8, 9) for carrying the fluid inside body (3) and through pump units (7) to nozzle assembly (11). In each pump unit (7), the fluid pressure is adapted to be stepwise increased by means of the rotation energy of shaft (10) in a manner that along said set of conduits (8, 9) the fluid is carried from the outlet side or the like of the preceding pump unit to the inlet side or the like of the following pump unit. |
