<p>In the transmission of laser light at high power levels through optical fibres (7), a fault such as a break in or strong bending of the optical fibre (7) may mean that the light reaches non-intended points where it causes damages. The invention calls for an auxiliary laser (12) to be associated with the first laser (2), the light from the auxiliary laser being coupled into the optical fibre (7), reflected on a focussing lens (9) with a reflective coating (16), and received by a sensor (18) linked to a shutter (5) disposed in the path of the beam from the first laser (2).</p> |
