A print head carriage is guided longitudinally by one axle (6) and vertically by a second axle. The first axle is mounted near the printer side wall via sections (6a,6b) of equal eccentricity and carries a positioning lever (9) outside the printer. The first axle (6) carries the lever (9) on a third eccentric section (6c) of equal size and position to the other eccentric sections. The first axle shaft (10) runs in horizontal apertures in the printer frame side walls (3a,3b). The first two eccentric sections are spring guided on positioning plates (13a,13b) on a reference surface on the outside of the side walls.
