The capacity of the storage battery (25) can be designed relatively small, if all dispensable functions such as time unimportant auxiliary uses, which transitionally can be switched off. Due to re-increasing radiation sufficient power reserve is available for all functions. The movement of one of the hands (17) with lowered power can be switched off, in this even the hand travels to an angular position, which gives an instantaneous indication of its non-functioning. The switch-off can be performed using a radiation controlled and/or voltage controlled isolating switch (29). An auxiliary storage battery may be provided for time important functions of the clock.
