PURPOSE:To attain a uniform display and color reproducibility by optimizing the thicknesses of respective layers at the time of successively forming a color filter layer and a 1st overcoat layer on a transparent substrate, polishing the 1st overcoat layer and then successively forming a 2nd overcoat layer and transparent electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the 1st overcoat layer 3 is set equal to or larger than the thickness of the color filter layer 2 and at the thickness which does not exceed 20% of the thickness of the overcoat layer when the thickness of the color filter layer 2 is set at 1.0 to 2.0 (mum), by which the surface characteristic offsetting the steps of the color filter layer is attained and the flattening is attained in a polishing treatment. The 2nd overcoat layer 4 is applied thereon and the thickness of the 2nd overcoat layer 4 is set at 90 to 120% as compared with the thickness of the 1st overcoat layer 3. Even the fine flaws on the overcoat layer are eliminated in this way and the display having a uniform and high contrast is attained. |
