The dispenser comprises a solid block of disinfectant (1) which dissolves in the flush water in the toilet cistern (1), and is enclosed in a controlled feed container (4) which is in contact with the flush water cistern via at least one hole (5). The cistern has a normal outlet valve (6) and cover (7). The hole (5) via which the feed container is in contact with the cistern is long, running parallel to the container base (8), and located in the lower half of at least one container wall (9). In the main version of the dispenser, the controlled feed container is coverless, and maintains its position in the cistern irrespectively as to whether flush water is in the cistern, or has just been discharged by opening the outlet valve (6). The disinfectant is only discharged from the feed container when the water level has reached the level of the container hole (5). USE - To discharge controlled amounts of disinfectant into the flush water of a toilet.
