The machine has rotor with a shaft (6) to which a number of discs (14) are rigidly attached. Each disc (14) is equipped with four equally spaced blades (4) which are mounted on rods (15) which pass through holes in the discs (14) and are arranged parallel to the shaft axis. These blades are free to swing about the rods (15) as the rotor rotates. The rotor is provided with a spare set of blades (4) which are mounted on the rods (15) but are prevented from rotating by screws (17) which pass through clearance holes in the blades and engage tapped (21) holes in the discs.
