Known devices for winding up material webs, in particular paper or cardboard webs, on winding tubes, have longitudinal cutters for separating the material web (1) into individual webs and winding stations (9, 10) arranged on both sides of a driven back-up roll (8). The winding stations have two bearing elements (11, 12) movable in a direction parallel to the back-up roll and upon which is secured a guiding head (15, 16) with a rotative drive (17, 18) that can move in the direction of the back-up roll and penetrate in the winding tubes. In order to be able to adjust without problems the winding stations (9, 10) to various formats, in particular very narrow formats, liquid-cooled electric motors are used as rotative drives (17, 18) for the guiding heads (15, 16).
