The play apparatus has a helical spring as a support spring for parts which move relative to each other such as an upper seat part and a lower base plate. The base plate (3) is mounted for rotary movement on a locally fixed base (9) and is provided with a drive which is operated stepwise by swivel movements of the helical spring (1) which take place in a vertical plane so that the centre longitudinal axis which is perpendicular in the normal position is bent sideways in its upper area. The drive can be a detent gearbox whereby the base has on its top side detent recesses (11) or projections. ADVANTAGE - An additional stepped turning movement as well as a to and fro rocking movement is now achieved.
