PURPOSE:To allow each of residents of a house to use each of plural handsets independently by providing a reproduction function of a reply message in the absence to a base unit and providing a message recording function of a handset to a TAM (automatic reply telephone set; automatic answering telephone set). CONSTITUTION:When a call comes, a switch circuit 262 is hooked off, a tape recorder 281 is brought into the reproduction mode, the reproduction of a reply message is started and the message such as 'This is Suzuki's. We are just out. Please leave your message after depressing key 1 for Taro Suzuki or key 2 for Hanako Suzuki.' is sent. When a caller depresses a numeral key of a dial key, a TAM set 11 corresponding to the depressed numeral key is connected to a base unit 2 and the message by the caller is recorded onto the TAM set 11.
