<p>A communicating apparatus has a main unit (1) and a remote unit (3). The main unit (1), which has a plurality of communicating functions, includes a device (5, 10) for setting selectively one of a plurality of communicating conditions in the main unit to enable one of the communicating functions, a device for generating an operation monitor signal (18, 11) which varies according to the set communicating condition, and a device (13, 14) for transmitting the generated operation monitor signal. The remote unit (3), which is adapted to transmit a data signal to the main unit (1) and receive a data signal from the main unit (1), includes a device (22-27) for receiving and detecting the transmitted operation monitor signal, a monitor device (29) which is driven in various manners depending on the variation of the detected operation monitor signal so as to monitor the communicating condition set in the main unit, a device for inputting a desirable communicating condition to be set in the main unit, a device for generating a control signal which varies according to the inputted desirable communicating condition, and a device (39) for transmitting the generated control signal to the main unit.
