PURPOSE:To form the coating film having a thickness stable to an increase in the number of sheets being coated by a method wherein the solid concn. of an optical material-containing coating liq. to be supplied to a coating device is made changeable progressively and successively and this coating liq. is applied successively on base plates. CONSTITUTION:A coating liq. containing optical material, i.e., solids, having a progressively and successively changing concn. is supplied to a coating device through a supply pipe 4 and discharged therefrom through a discharge pipe 14. An ink bank 12 is formed from which to supply the coating liq. to gravure patterns 8 and the coating liq. is scraped off the parts other than the patterns by a doctor blade 13. The coating liq. is pressed against and transferred on substrates 9 placed on a stage 11 to form coating films 10. The typical example of the foregoing coating liq. is the material for use in the formation of the recording layer of an optical recording medium. Also, inorg. material such as glass and ceramics and org. compound sheets are the examples of the foregoing base plate. |
