PURPOSE: To enable an alternative and more inexpensive measure for a message pager by inputting the telephone numbers of callers by whom a user wants to be called in a storage device, also issuing their own paging numbers to the callers and making the number identify a caller and sending it to a user's handset when the number is dialed by the caller. CONSTITUTION: A storage device in which the telephone numbers of callers by whom the user of a handset wants to be paged are inputted is provided, and a paging number is assigned to each caller. When a caller wants to call to the user, the caller dials a paging number that is previously designated to a paging service via a public telephone communication switched network. This is detected as an incoming paging signal to the handset, and the handset gives the user an audible alarm or a visible alarm which advises that the user is paged. A desired link is established between the caller and the user when the user, for instance, just presses a hash key on a keypad of the user's handset. Thereby, a more inexpensive telephone system for communication with a base station by radio is acquired.
