PURPOSE: To attain a high recording density and high signal-to-noise ratio and to attain the use of an ordinary player by selectively energizing a light absorptive layer contg. an explosive material by a light beam to induce distant explosions, thereby forming pits or build-ups indicating data signals. CONSTITUTION: A recording medium 1 is provided with a substrate 2 and is provided with a light absorptive coating 4 of an effective amt. superposed on this signal. The explosive material is incorporated into the coating 4. At the time when the medium 1 moves with respect to the intensity modulated writing beam, the coating 4 is selectively heated by the light beam and the distant explosions are induced therein. As a result, the corresponding pits 10 or build-ups indicating the data signals are formed on the outside surface of the coating 4. A light reflection layer 12 is deposited on the coating 4 having the build-ups or pits 10 of the surface. As a result, the rough edges having the possibility of exerting an adverse influence on the reproduction characteristics of the disk are not formed and the high recording density and the high signal-to-noise ratio are obtd. In addition, the reproduction with the standard laser reading player is made possible. |
