PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a pulse compressing section and to make compact the whole apparatus by employing a plurality of ring type saturable reactors having different magnetic path length and disposing the plurality of saturable reactors on an approximately same plane. CONSTITUTION:First to third saturable reactors 32A-32C constituting several stages of ceramic pulse compression circuits have magnetic path length longer in this order and formed into rings, and they are arranged concentrically on a same plane along the longitudinal side wall of a chamber 28. A circuit for moving charges from the inside saturable reactor 32A having short magnetic path to the outside saturable reactor having long magnetic path is established, and charging capacitors 34B-34D are disposed oppositely to the chamber 28. Consequently, a pulse compressing section 30 can be shortened remarkably, overall dimension in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the chamber 28 is reduced resulting in a compact apparatus. |
