In (I) R = CH=CHCHR1CH(CH3)2 (gp. a), CH2CHR2COR3 (gp. b) or CH2CH2C(OH)(R4)CH3 (gp. c); R1 = CN or CHO; R2 = H or CO2R3; R3 = 1-4C alkyl; R4 = C=CH or CH=CH2; X = H, OH, halo, OR5 or OSO2R6; R5 = H, 1-alkoxyalkyl, tetrahydrofuryl, tetrahydropyranyl, acyl or silyl substd. by 1-5C alkyl or phenyl; R6 = 1-4C alkyl opt. substd. by halo or phenyl opt. substd. by 1-4C alkyl; n = 0-2; provided that (i) when R = a gp.
