METHOD OF FURALDEHYDE PRODUCTION FROM PENTOSE SOLUTIONS

The principle of the solution consists in the fact that a solution of pentoses, hydrolysates, pre-hydrolysates or sulphite liquors from production of cellulose is used for impregnation of granular, porous material like expanded perlite with grain size of 0.5 to 2.5 mm, or granulated material from corn trash in volume ratio of 10:1 for a period of 7 to 10 hours. Then the surplus solution is separated by filtration or the pentose solution is let to flow through a column of porous material, while on the surface of material impregnated in this manner a layer of dehydration catalyser is applied based on 60 to 70 percent sulphuric acid or 60 to 85 percent orthophosphoric acid. The material processed in this manner is heated to a temperature of 100 to 220 degrees C in stationary filtering layer, or forming vibrofluid layer through which water vapour is lead.
