This invention relates to a process for preparing thienotriazolodiazepine derivatives of the general formula A, in which Y is an oxygen or sulphur atom and R denotes a variety of substituents, in which process the thienotriazolodiazepine compound of the formula B is reacted with a RSCH2COOH derivative, and the resulting compound is then reacted with hydrazine hydrate, and the compound which is obtained in this way is finally cyclised with triethyl orthoacetate in order to obtain the compound of the formula A, in which Y is oxygen, and a sulphonating reaction is optionally carried out in order to obtain the corresponding compound of the formula A in which Y is sulphur.
