LOW CLEARANCE JACKING SYSTEM

A hand towable jacking system for hoisting automobiles has a ground frame mounted on castors for ready insertion beneath a vehicle to be hoisted, the upwardly moveable load transfer frame being retractable downwardly into telescoped relation with the ground frame, to minimise the clearance height required to accommodate insertion of the system. A high pressure hydraulic jack accommodates to the low silhouette of the system. A lost motion ramp connection between the hydraulic jack and the load transfer frame permits initial upward pivotal displacement of the frame while the jack and its associated load transfer members are initially in mutually aligned relation, thereby moving the respective members out of alignment, for continued upward displacement by the jack. A safety back-up portion of the system provides an inverted Ushaped frame in jamming, load transfer relation between the load transfer frame and the ground frame.
