PURPOSE:To reduce an insertion loss and to easily produce this optical fiber type polarized wave separator by working a part close to the leading part of each fiber like a tape, working the leading part like a semisphere and planely grinding the leading part up to a position where the whole cross section of a core is exposed obliquely to the axis of the fiber to constitute each of 2nd and 3rd optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral part of each of the 2nd and 3rd optical fibers 6, 8 is ground like a taper until the diameter of a cross section perpendicular to the center axis of the leading part of the fiber reaches a prescribed length to execute taper working and the leading part is semispherically worked by grinding. Namely, the parts close to the leading parts of the fibers 6, 8 are worked like tapers and the leading parts are semispherically worked as so-called taper top spherical fibers, so that the increment of an insertion loss can be suppressed. Thus, the optical fiber type polarized wave separator reduced in insertion loss and ensured easy production can be obtained. |
