PURPOSE:To simplify the disposition of optical parts by providing a multiplexer which makes signal light and pumping light of a small difference in wavelength incident perpendicularly or parallel with each other. CONSTITUTION:A multiplexing prism unit 42 which multiplexes the pumping light and the signal light forms a total reflecting film 44 formed of multilayered dielectric films, etc., on one surface delineating the inclusion angle of a prism 43 having 45 deg. inclusion angle. This unit includes the prism 43 formed with a multiplexing film 45 formed likewise of the multilayered dielectric films, etc., on the other surface and is constituted by sticking a triangular prism 46 of 22.5 deg. vertex angle on the other surface of the prism 43. After the signal light is totally reflected by the total reflecting film 44, this light is made incident on the multiplexing film 45. The signal light and the pumping light are multiplexed by the multiplexing film 45 and the multiplexed light is made incident on the Er-doped optical fiber 52. The disposition of the optical parts is simplified in this way. |
