PURPOSE:To allow the direct amplification of wavelength multiplex signal light with simple constitution decreased in the number of parts by connecting a 1st doped fiber and a 2nd doped fiber in series, amplifying the signal light of the different wavelengths in the respective doped fibers and transmitting this light as it is to an exit side. CONSTITUTION:The 1st doped fiber 50 which amplifies the light of the 1st wavelength and the 2nd doped fiber 52 which amplifies the light of the 2nd wavelength are connected in series. The 1st doped fiber 50 is provided with a 1st pumping light source 58 which makes 1st pumping light 59 incident thereon and a 2nd pumping light source 66 makes 2nd pumping light 67 incident thereon, respectively. A demultiplexer which separates the signal light of the different wavelengths and a multiplexer which multiplexes the signal light of the different wavelengths after amplification are omitted if the amplifier is constituted in such a manner. The number of the parts over all is decreased in this way and the direct amplification of the wavelength multiplex signal light is possible. |
