PURPOSE: To reduce a scanning time and to compress image data in a prescribed compression ratio by storing color image data, compressing the image data in a prescribed compression ratio, shifting it to a transmission line means and also transmitting it to a control means. CONSTITUTION: The document 17 is irradiated through a glass plate 14 by light from a light source 12, the reflected light is made incident on a CCD 16, and the output signal is stored in a storage circuit 20 via an A/D converter 18. Digital image data from the circuit 20 are shifted to a transmission line circuit 22, and the data from the circuit 22 are compressed in 10:1 compression ratio by a compressing circuit 24. |
