<p>PURPOSE:To improve the overall working speed of an information processor by selecting one of both clock signals having different frequencies out of a register based on the selection information, outputting the selected clock signal to a processor, and switching the clock signal to another one having a lower frequency with a firmware instruction using a critical path. CONSTITUTION:A processor 1 which works with a firmware instruction is provided together with a control storage part 2 which stores the firmware instruction, two clocks 3 and 4 which output the clock signals of different frequencies, a register 5 which stores the information showing the selection of one of both clock signals outputted from the clocks 3 and 4 via the processor 1, and a selector 6 which selects one of both clock signals of the clocks 3 and 4 and outputs this selected signal to the processor 1 based on the information stored in the register 5. In such a constitution, a clock signal of a lower frequency can be applied to the processor 1 when a firmware instruction using a critical path is executed.</p> |
