The invention relates to a system for data transmission on a two-wire transmission network between a front end (1) and terminals (4) and, in particular, a system for data transmission from a front end (1) to at least one of the terminals (4) or from a terminal (4) to the front end (1), the said terminals (4) being supplied with electrical energy by the front end (1), via the said network (L). The front end comprises a transformer (10) having two windings (L1, L2) mounted respectively in series with each wire of the network (L) and a power supply circuit (11), a transmission unit (8) controlled by a control unit (5), the output (SE) of which is linked to a winding (L3) magnetically coupled to the windings (L1, L2) of the transformer (10), a current source (9) controlled by the control unit (5) and delivering a current to a fourth winding (L4) of the transformer (10).
