PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium enhanced in photothermal conversion efficiency and having high recording speed by using polyethylene terephthalate being a crystalline polymer in a recording layer and adding an aluminum salt having a specific structural formula to the recording layer or the separate layer being in contact with the recording layer as a light-absorbing substance. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium having a recording layer based on a crystalline polymer capable of being reversibly changed in its degree of crystallization by a temp. change and capable of utilizing the change of optical characteristics accompanied by the change of the degree of crystallization of the crystalline polymer brought about by heating the recording layer to the m.p. of the polymer or higher and cooling the same while changing cooling speed in recording, crystalline polyethylene terephthalate is added to the recording layer as a main component, and an aluminum salt represented by general formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are a hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, A is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a nitrile group, B is a nitrile group or an alkoxycarbonyl group and x is an anion or an adduct of an anion and a halogen molecule) is added as a light-absorbing substance to the recording layer or the separate layer being in contact with the recording layer. |
