摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous disengagement side control by forcibly prohibiting the release of the engagement side control of lock-up means for a set period from the time of starting of the shift-down of a transmission mechanism after receiving output from down speed change detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Control means 51 detects deceleration operation by detecting means 50 and controls the lock-up means 13 of a torque convertor toward an engagement side, after the completion of the deceleration operation the control means releases the control toward the engagement side. At the time of this deceleration operation, when down speed change detecting means 52 detects shift-down in a transmission mechanism, an engine speed quickly drops temporarily during a speed change stage passes nutral, as a result, the deceleration detecting means 50 erroneously judges it as the time of the completion of the deceleration and the control means 51 are prone to release the control of the engagement side, however, this control of the release is forcibly prohibited by prohibiting means 53, so that the lock-up means 13 is maintained under controlled toward the engagement condition. Thus, improvement of fuel consumption and improvement of deceleration performance due to an engine brake can be attemped.
