A process for washing out an acid, esp. HCl, from a dust free gas, esp. the exhaust gas from a waste burning plant, includes washing the gas in one stage with an aq. soln., and then removing the acid formed from that stage. The exhaust gas is subjected to droplet removal after washing, and is then fed to a second stage, where fresh water is added. ADVANTAGE - The process is simple and reliable.
