The rotary cutter head (10) has recesses in its circumference to receive the cutter blades (14) which are held in place by wedges (16). The recess is tapered at an angle and cooperates with wedges to provide a tapered lock between the wedges and cutterblock body. At the base of each aperture is a plunger (22) in a recess (24) which under hydraulic pressure acts on the base of the wedge, and thus clamps the blade. Depressurisation of the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic chamber causes unclamping of the body from the spindle without the simultaneous release of the blades from their recess. |
