The baseplate of, e.g. Al or plastics material, has a number of pairs of LEDs arranged in small triangular or rectangular openings, and a row of LEDs in a single elongated narrow opening. When the decorative film (2) is positioned correctly, corresp. graphic symbols (e.g.5') are illuminated from behind by the pairs of LEDs, and a bar graph (24) is backlit by the row. An alphanumeric display (25), keys (26-9) and a cursor (30) appear in other windows (e.g. 4).
