[Class 132 (ii)] The frames 1, 2 of a racquet press are pressed apart by springs and connected by a toothed rack and detent mechanism. Spring-pressed detent bars 10, Fig. 2, terminating in fingerpieces 18, Fig. 1, co-operate with the ratchet teeth 8 of rods 6. The bevelled edge of the bar 10, in a modification, may engage a pinion engaging the teeth 8. In a cross type of press either a single detent bar 10 is employed, or four detents are mounted one in each cross-bar and connected to a central cam so as to operate simultaneously. In a modification, Fig. 10, rectangular frames 1, 2, having divided crossbars connected by springs 30, are joined by interengaging ratchet teeth 8, 8<1> on rods 6<1>, 6<11>.</p> |
