PURPOSE:To uniformly electrostatically charge a substance to be electrostatically charged by providing a magnetic field generation means which gives variable magnetic field to a conductive fiber. CONSTITUTION:A conductive brush 2 is obtained by flocking many magnetic fibers 2b on the surface of a hollow cylindrical conductive supporting body 2a. Then, a magnetic roll 3 functioning as the magnetic field generation means is supported so as to be freely rotated inside the supporting body 2a and rotated at a specified speed by a driving means. As to the rotating speed of the roll 3, a fixed difference is set for the rotating speed of the supporting body 2a, and the tip of the magnetic fiber 2b is moved according to the temporal variation of magnetic field distribution generated by the relative speed difference so as to keep the uniform contact state with the surface part of a photosensitive drum 1. Thus, the substance to be electrostatically charged is uniformly electrostatically charged. |
