484,239. Lubricating valves. AUDLEY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and LEACH, R. W. Jan. 28, 1937, No. 2487. [Class 12 (iii)] A lubricating device for a valve having a rotary closure member b comprises a piston chamber m from which lubricant or plastic substance is supplied under pressure to the working surfaces of the valve, and a storage chamber q for replenishing the piston chamber and located adjacent to and being of about the same capacity as the piston chamber. As shown, the lubricant in the chamber m is placed under pressure by a piston f subjected to spring action and to the action of the fluid controlled by the valve. The storage chamber q has a screwed plunger r for ejecting the lubricant through a non-return valve s to the piston chamber m. The latter has a relief valve u. The piston and storage chambers may be formed as a fitting separate from the valve. |
