PURPOSE:To efficiently separate and recover valuable metal components, such as Ni, from large amounts of gangue components by eluting small amounts of Ni in a nickel magnesium silicate ore with acid, extracting and separating this Ni in a liquid phase in the form of chloride from large amounts of extraction residue, precipitating the Ni by means of neutralization, and subjecting the precipitate to filtration, to drying, and to roast. CONSTITUTION:A nickel magnesium silicate ore in which small amounts of valuable metals, such as Ni, Fe, and Cr, are contained and most of the balance consists of SiO2 and MgO is pulverized and treated with hydrochloric acid, by which Ni, Fe, Cr, and Mg are dissolved and extracted in the form of respective water-soluble chlorides and separated from SiO2 as a gangue component insoluble in hydrochloric acid. A Ca type neutralizer, such as CaO, is added to a solution containing metal chlorides to regulate the pH of the solution to 5.4-7.5, and the metals, such as Ni, are precipitated in the form of hydroxides and separated from a liquid phase containing Mg and Ca. The hydroxides of Ni, etc., can be recovered as mixed oxides of Ni, Cr, and Fe in high yield by drying and roasting the hydroxides of Ni, etc., and an Fe-Cr-Ni alloy as a crude material for stainless steel can be produced with minimal heat energy.
|
