Flocculant consists of a combination of high mol. polymer(s) (I) and low mol. polyionic cpd(s). (II). Pref., (I) is polyacrylamide, pref. with a viscosity of 0.02-0.9 Pa.s (in 1 (wt.)% aq. soln. at 23 deg.C and a r shear rate of 1 cm/s). (II) is a polyamine with mol. wt. under 1000 and/or polysulphonic acid with mol. wt. under 2000, pref. in salt form. (I) and/or (II) are mixts. and the (I):(II) ratio is 50-0.1:1. The slurry or mud is treated with 0.0001-0.1 wt.% mixt. of (I) and (II) in 50-0.1:1 ratio, pref. in the form of a soln. or fine dispersion in water, in a concn. of under 10%. -
