NEW MATERIAL:A chitosanase-producing microbial strain consisting of Pseudomonas H-14 strain (FERM 11143) having the following bacteriological properties. Gram-dyeability, negative; morphological properties, bacillus of 0.8-1.9mum in size, locomotive with single polar flagellum, colorless and exhibiting luster on a bouillon agar medium; physiological properties, obligate aerobe requiring oxygen and having optimum growth pH of 6.7 and optimum growth temperature of 30 deg.C. USE:Production of highly active chitosanase suitable for the production of a low-molecular weight chitosan for pharmaceutical use, etc. PREPARATION:Various soils are cultured on a chitosan-containing plate medium at 30 deg.C for 7 days, colonies forming a halo are collected and the similar culture operations are repeated to separate the pure bacterial strain. |
