This invention provides a method for depositiing a superconducting thin film comprising at least one high temperature Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O-based superconductor phase onto a substrate such as, for example, a ceramic oxide or a metal. High temperature Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O-based superconductor phases include Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8, Bi4Sr3Ca3Cu4O16, and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10.
