PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for reseting the storage of an execution environment (EE) at every change of EE by providing this program executing system with an EE identifying means for identifying EE setting means for setting up the EE in a storage device. CONSTITUTION:A program COBOL 52 for processing a current unit while referring to a file COBOLDIR stored in a unit set up in an EE storage 51 as an EE name COBDIR is processed for a unit B. After changing the current unit to the unit B, the environment of an environment name COBDIR is A is set up in the storage 51 by the EE setting means 2. A program starting means 3 instructs an OS to start a program 41. The program (COBOL) 52 refers to the storage 51 and then processes the current unit B while referring to the file COBOLDIR stored in the unit A. Consequently the resetting of the EE at every change of the EE can be eliminated.
